Education Committee

In 2005, CSIA added the CSIA Education Committee to our seven program committees in response to presentations depicting the need for technology talent and the lack of students in STEM-related programs. A key focus of this education committee’s initiatives in 2008 and beyond is to strategically link the Colorado technology industry with the state’s educational institutions and students.

With the active participation of area technology sector leaders, college, university and K-12 education leaders, our Education Committee collaborates with all participants to maximize the opportunities for Colorado students at all levels (job skills, education, and employment) and create a highly skilled workforce for the growing Colorado technology industry.

Our education strategy is focused on the development of a clear path for students to great jobs. Specific initiatives are to:

  • Influence teachers, parents and high school/college students about great career trends in IT.
  • Create connections between the IT industry, key educators and student influencers across the state.
  • Facilitate internships with local companies for high school and college students.
  • Facilitate connections for scholarships for high school students interested in STEM-related curricula.
  • Nurture a system by which Colorado employers can participate in the development of a highly-skilled workforce.
