Over 850 people attended CSIA's first-ever DEMOGala at the Colorado Convention Center on October 20th. The event proved to be CSIA's largest attended event throughout the organization's 10 year history.

CSIA's DEMOGala Technology Showcase featured demonstrations and exhibits by twenty-eight (28) of Colorado�s top technology companies, whose inventions and discoveries are impacting the success of industries around the globe. The selection process for DEMOGala Technology Showcase involved an exhaustive review of more than 150 nominations received over a four month period.

This first-ever event, held on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at the Colorado Convention Center, showcased Colorado-based companies that are striving to modernize, improve, originate and create the technologies, systems, applications and machines that are advancing business and human culture around the world.

Companies chosen to participate in DEMOGala come from across a broad spectrum of advanced technologies including Nanotechnology, Photonics, Robotics, RFID, GPS, Storage, Aviation, Energy, Animation, Software, Internet, Bioscience, Medical Devices and more. All invited companies are either developing their technology in Colorado or have their corporate offices based in Colorado.

Meg Whitman, President and CEO of Internet mega-auction site eBay, saluted Colorado�s advanced technology companies during remarks as the keynote speaker at CSIA's inaugural DEMOGala event. CEO and President of eBay heralded the Internet for continuing to revolutionize the world and empowering billions of people to start independent businesses. Meg Whitman's address followed engaging, hands-on interaction between event attendees and the invited companies� technologies.

AccuCode/Soft360 (Denver) is revolutionizing Mobile Device Management (MDM) by removing the need to install expensive and complex server software by offering subscription-based services and delivering enterprise-class software to mobile users helping reduce the total cost of ownership of device management. DEMO: "The Age of Mobility" featuring technologies and applications focused on mobile computing, wireless networking, automated data collection and resource tracking.

ADA Technologies (Littleton) develops and commercializes technology that focuses on industrial mercury control technologies; developing early stage instrument and sensors technologies into commercial products to address market needs in atmospheric and environmental sciences; water treatment products related to the detection and removal of contaminants from wastewater and drinking water; and PhysioNetics advanced prosthetic and orthotic devices.

Alcohol Monitoring Systems (Highlands Ranch) manufactures the world�s only noninvasive alcohol-detection system that automatically tests for alcohol every hour, 24 hours a day, regardless of the individual�s location. SCRAM (the Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor) fully automates the alcohol testing and reporting process, providing community corrections agencies and treatment organizations nationwide with the ability to assess compliance with sentencing requirements and treatment guidelines.
DEMO: SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor). It's the world�s only alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet worn by repeat DUI offenders that automatically tests for alcohol every hour, 24 hours a day, regardless of an individual�s location, providing court systems with an alternative to jail.

ALD NanoSolutions (Broomfield) proprietary technology is based on atomic layer deposition (ALD) coating chemistry and fluidized bed processing methods for depositing ultrathin films on particulate and polymeric surfaces. The company is focused on commercializing its nanocoating processes, called Particle ALD and Polymer ALD. Particle ALD has been named one of R & D magazine's top 100 innovations for 2004.

Colorado University Digital Animation Center (Denver) is committed to providing quality instruction in 3D multimedia theory and design preparing its students to be prepared to excel in a multitude of industries including feature film, broadcast, scientific visualization, medical imaging and engineering.

DigitalGlobe (Longmont) is the leader in the global commercial Earth imagery and geospatial information market. DigitalGlobe�s QuickBird satellite is the world�s highest resolution commercial imaging satellite. DigitalGlobe plans to launch its next-generation WorldView I and WorldView II satellites in 2006 and 2008. Their Image Library contains over one hundred million square kilometers of global imagery for countless mapping and planning needs.

University of Denver Video/Film/Gaming Department (Denver) provides courses in art and design; 3D; animation; video and audio; interactive media; games; HCI design; and web and network development. Program graduates are applying their digital skills in communication, journalism, business and design fields.

Medtronic (Louisville) is the world leader in medical technologies providing lifelong solutions for people with chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease, neurological disorders and vascular illnesses. National Renewable Energy Laboratory - US Dept. of Energy (Golden) partners with international, environmental and government agencies to apply renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions. Omnitech Robotics (Englewood) develops and manufactures robotic components, controls, and systems for converting ground vehicles to be remote controlled, teleoperated controlled or semi-autonomous controlled. Omnitech Robotics has earned international recognition for robotic vehicle controls operating in high-risk environments such as minefield clearing in Bosnia and Kosovo.

The University of Colorado Cancer Center (Denver) located at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center is the only National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center in the Rocky Mountain Region. Its four-part mission includes cancer treatment, research, education and prevention.

PercepTek (Littleton) is a leader in the field of Intelligent Robotics including integration, perception, planning and control for the robotics, surveillance and autonomous vehicle markets. RxKinetix (Louisville) is a specialty pharmaceutical company that uses its proprietary drug delivery technologies to develop new medicinal products including therapeutic antibodies, vaccines and growth factor formulations. The company�s proprietary drug delivery technologies have the potential to substantially improve or enable existing compounds or products by enhancing efficacy, creating sustained release and reduced dosing.

Seagate Technology (Longmont and Colorado Springs) is the worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of hard disc drives, providing products for a wide-range of Enterprise, Desktop, Mobile Computing, and Consumer Electronics applications. Syncroness (Westminster) provides strategic outsourced engineering services for product design and development. Syncroness has contributed to numerous patents at companies like Ford, Honeywell, Valeo, Nexus, Nu-Photonics and KRONE Gmbh. Syncroness has been chosen by the United States Air Force to develop and demonstrate a high altitude chamber that would fully enclose the USAF�s 10-mile-long High Speed Test Track at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.

The Children's Hospital Center for Gait and Movement Analysis (Denver) is a private, not-for-profit pediatric health-care network with a main campus, five community based after-hour care sites and eight specialty-care centers. Touch of Life Technologies (Aurora) is the developer of the VH Dissector that provides access to 3D renderings of photographic anatomy from the Visible Human Project. This virtual cadaver includes over 2000 identified anatomic structures and the cross-sections from which they were derived. The program can be used as a free-form reference or navigated with user-created lesson plans. Hurricane Katrina Relief
10% of net proceeds from DEMOGala are going to help our technology colleagues in Louisiana. CSIA is already working with the Louisiana Tech Council to assist their members, staff and volunteers affected by Hurricane Katrina, and we're specifically focusing on funding technology initiates to help people and businesses get back on their feet.
