DEMOgala 2007
DEMOgala Success - Inspiration and Culture are Keys to the Future

CSIA's DEMOgala was a success in many ways, and we all have a number of reasons to celebrate. First, this was an exhibition of Colorado's inspiring technology companies, combined with inspiring conversations from dozens of prominent industry figures.
Passionate about startups, growing companies and entrepreneurism, Brad Feld (Managing Director, Foundry Group) launched the day with insight about why entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of our state and country, as well as the importance of culture. Next, we were honored to hear from Governor Bill Ritter about Colorado's promise in technology, as well as his new Innovation Council, formed with technology leaders who will advise the Governor and his administration about entrepreneurism, broadband and the state's IT structure.
Further insight happened during the Innovation Council, where more than 55 speakers talked about the importance of education, innovation, business practices and inspiration during all-day sessions. At lunch, we heard about the importance of IT in all sectors from Jon Nordmark, CEO, eBags, who also served as a "Jay Leno-style" host with Kirby Slunaker, CIO, MDC Holdings; Bob Ogdon, CEO, SwiftPage Email; Micki Nelson, CIO, MWH; Leroy Williams, CIO, Ball; Doug Hennig, CTO, Stonefield Software Inc. and Kevin Survance, CTO, Mapquest.
State CIO Michael Locatis, emcees Kirby Slunaker and Bob Ogdon, Luke Beatty, President, Associated Content and student David Moyer from Legacy High School rounded out the evening before we heard from Tim Armstrong. Speaking for the first time at a major conference in Colorado, Tim talked about Google's success through its culture, and gave us all inspiring ideas to take into our own companies.
The objective of DEMOgala was again to showcase technology in our state, raise awareness about how successful our technology community is, and serve as a portal for conversations to help each and every technology professional in the state. We hope you participated in DEMOgala, and, gained great insight. Thanks to our sponsors and volunteers for making Colorado shine once again.
